RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT
Requires a bachelor's, master's, or doctoral degree in chemical engineering, chemistry, textile engineering or science, material science, metallurgy, or physics.
Materials Research Engineer
- Conducts innovative research in rubber chemistry and physics, compounding, reinforcements, and composites to develop new, and optimize existing, materials for tire applications
- Develops knowledge linking material chemistry and properties to tire performance
- Conducts multidisciplinary research with counterparts in the United States, France and Japan to achieve objectives. Conduct and coordinate research with external suppliers, universities and other outside entities to develop new materials and knowledge for tire applications. Some travel is involved.
Materials Research Technician
- Performs both physical and chemical tests in the area of research and development of materials, processes and methods
- Assists in lab studies under the direction of material research scientists
- Works with external suppliers, universities and other outside entities on research and development of new materials and knowledge for tire applications. Some travel is involved.
