CAREER PATHS

MANUFACTURING

Michelin manufacturing managers operate in a team-oriented, empowered environment where employees not only run the manufacturing equipment, but make many of the decisions that have traditionally been reserved for management. Our management structure is very "flat" and emphasizes coaching rather than directing.

Production management positions at Michelin begin with extensive technical and managerial training leading to an initial assignment over a production area.

Production Manager Requires a technical degree, preferably in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, chemical engineering or industrial engineering, and 3-5 years of manufacturing management experience.

  • Establishes and manages day-to-day priorities of the process and direct report employees
  • Ensures that production, quality, and cost goals are met per the plant business plan
  • Monitors employee performance and training including appraising and guiding individual employees to further develop skills and improve performance

Supervisor Requires an associate's degree or higher and 3-5 years of manufacturing supervisory experience.

  • Directs the activities of production employees, tracks progress, and provides feedback on a regular basis
  • Maintains employee records for attendance, disciplinary actions, and pay
  • Analyzes productivity and inventory levels and, where appropriate, makes the necessary changes to maximize production levels
