North American Career Manager - Manufacturing and Supply Chain
My name is Cheryl, and I am a 44 year old mother of two. I was born in North Dakota but raised in Arizona. I studied Systems Engineering at the US Naval Academy and then spent 9 years in the Navy as a pilot. In 1992, I decided to leave the Navy and began my job search. I joined Michelin because I was offered a great opportunity with an excellent company who made me feel valued during the hiring process.
I am currently in the Personnel department at the North American Headquarters. My job is to manage the careers of mid-level managers in Manufacturing and in Supply Chain throughout North America. My previous job was in the North American Truck Tire Supply Chain as the Inventory Manager and Supply Chain Engineer. I was responsible for setting the parameters to direct the appropriate amount of inventory to the right distribution location, but I also got to work a bit in other areas of Supply Chain (Forecasting, Manufacturing, Importing, Distribution, Marketing and Sales, etc). I have also worked at two of our manufacturing plants. I started in 1992 as an Industrial Engineer at our passenger tire plant in Greenville and then had the privilege of being the Industrial Engineering Manager and the Plans and Results (Admin/Accounting/Investments) Manager at our Spartanburg truck tire plant.
I have found that in all of my roles in Michelin, I get to do two things that I really enjoy: work with high caliber people and do plenty of problem solving. I have always felt comfortable about my career management. Working with my manager, Facility Personnel Manager and Career Manager, I have been challenged and developed, with new opportunities coming at just the right time.
Michelin is a company that lives its values. I feel very proud and fortunate to be part of it!
